Digging a hole is just a precursor to washing gravel...

Washing gravel is a breeze compared to digging.

I've got a 3.4m x 1.2m x 1m hole to dig out the back soon. You're welcome to feel manly at my house. :thumbright:

Looks good Aubsters! The greenhouse will last for some time.

Finally the wind stopped blowing and I can get back to work. We were get gusts up to 70 MPH and it showed me some small weak spots on the soon to be green house.

I did not stay completely idle during the winds. I did some Sketchup drawings of how I wanted the floor plan to go.

My end result is to have 2 systems and one sump.

The one sump aspect makes it one system, as they share the water. That does not make it any less cool though!

Great setup and I've got greenhouse envy!! (again!!!)
Based on Ronmaggi's comments you could always partition the sump and have a siphon loop over the bridge between the two to keep the water at the same level. This gives you the option of pulling it out to have two completely separate systems if needed at a later point. Just make sure the partition is strong enough to handle the water differential pressure if one side is empty and the other full for any reason.

I was going to do that with 2 IBC tanks, but I could not think of a reason that I would have to make it 2 separate systems. But after dig the hole, stacking the cement blocks, and stressing about my decision, I wish i did use the IBC tanks. It probably would have been easier.

Still making progress but my efforts has been slowed with cleaning the IBC tank I plan to use for my fish tank. I got the 360 gallon tank real cheap and was told that it held used cooing grease, and that it should be easy to clean. It seems that our idea of easy were quite different. I have soaked it in dish soap and water for two days, power sprayed it and it did not help that much. But laying it on its side and crawling in with a putty knife is giving me the best results so far.

Well at this point I'm pot committed and there is no turning back.

Wow thats dirty.

I used a pressure washer with hot water for a latex filled IBC. I did have to scrap some off also.

I eventually found the best method was 'strip it' disc on the grinder. (made out of plastic and coated in black or blue stuff)
