I am designing my second system. I am putting it in a greenhouse. I have shade cloth so I hope it will keep the temps down enough for the fish during the hot east Texas summers.

Below is a rough sketch that I created in Blender. The pipes are not to scale. I hope to have 3 plants tubes along one side. I will use 4 inch pipe for those and 3 in net pots. I already have 2 of the IBCs that I need and I already have a sump tank left over from the my first system.

Yes Blender is a free open source program.
You can find it www.blender.org. I guess I can post the link.

I have never used 3d sketch so I don't know if blender is easier. Many people think blender is hard to use but it works for me. I haven't used it in over a year so I am very rusty.

It does have many great resources to help you learn. I learned how to use it mostly at blendercookie They have many free videos as well as a subscription service.

I hope to start posting pictures of my system over the next few days.

Here a couple of pictures of my progress. You can see my fish tank, sump tank and couple of grow beds. You can see a frame that still need to be cut in half.

If you are space constrained at all you can use downspouts for you NFT tubes instead of angling them, and then the holes at the ends wont be partially blocked by the tube above.
