It has started again here. Trip to Ballarat this morning and 20 trout between my two bigger systems (in with the silvers and catfish) and 10 for a mate who has just started an AP system.
Pretty small to start with this batch

What size where they?

I got 200 about a month ago and they were about 2" (most of them anyway). Now they are 2" to 4" with one about 5" (which I'm not happy about).

When I was there on Thursday they said they wouldn't be grading them for another 4 to 6 weeks because their new raceways wouldn't be ready before then.

I got 40 yearlings :) Noojee

Put two in with the perch and they seem to dominate.

Had 30 last year with some ammonia .25-1 in the system at the end - but I figure the system can handle it with 38 now I have an RFF and more mature system.

These would have been 75-125mm. Only got 30 and they graded them into the buckets

Not only did we release 36 rainbow trout at Shoestring Gardening we also released 50 in my own system. They have settled in very well and are actively feeding already. The resident 15 silver perch don't seem to phased by the new arrivals and if all goes well they will be placed in the new RAS (recirculating aquaculture system) that I'll be building in the shed.

Hi,

I hope to (finally) get some trout for my system at Leopold in the next few weeks.

I don't know of any place closer than Ballarat so I am concerned about transportation from Ballarat to Leopold. How long is your trip from Ballarat to Horsham? How did you transport your fish? Will I need aeration of some sort?

Thanks again for your interest and support.

Marty

You will need aeration. Battery powered aerators are probably the easiest solution.

I'm am waiting for my 60 fingerlings coming in the next two weeks.

Had to draw the line at 60, since I only have some of my growbeds online.

Going in with 9 silver handlings. Hope the trout don't bash them too much when they get bigger.

Would have been 2.5hrs in the bags before they were released in our Horsham systems. They oxygenate the water in the bags big time. I put the bags on the back seat making sure the wire tie didnt rub on anything and covered them with towels to keep them dark.
I get fish from Livefish and also from Glenwaters that take two days from livefish and overnight from Glenwaters and they arrive fine in bags
