Cycling has been thrashed on this forum, just search the word cycle or cycling in topics only. The process is reasonably simple to understand but every situation will be slightly different depending on a multitude of factors.

search.php?keywords=cycling&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=titleonly&sk=t&sd=d&sr=topics&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

There is a lot of posts.

It's a little confusing when you don't understand it though. Although, I just dropped in some goldfish, waited a few weeks (maybe a month), and added my Murray Cods. Hardly took any tests, only added some seasol for the plants, and just let nature take its course. Seemed to work quite well.

Although, judging from the amount of threads, it's probably confusing a lot of people (and new people aren't the best with the search function).

Maybe make a sticky thread detailing all the information you need to know (cross linked in a few pages), with all the information - fishless (inc all the methods to fishless cycle, what to use, the quantities of ammonia/charlie carp, etc), with fish (sacrificial goldfish). What to look for with tests, average times it's taken for different people to cycle, and anything else that's usually included in the question threads.

And always wear a helmet and don't wear Lycra.

What's a sacrificial goldfish Column? I have kept and bred a few goldfish but I can't seem to recall that variation. :)

The most beneficial cycling advise for me was listening to others in my area and similar systems.+

I think of them like kamikaze goldfish. Taking the bullet for the other goldies.

Sorry my 2yr old granddaughter got on the computer while I was cooking.

She doesn't like Lycra or lab testing on animals (even goldfish). :)

Are you human?: Yup
Location: Perth hills.
I second what your 2 yr old grand daughter typed Sleepe.
I cannot understand why any fish needs to be "sacrificed" in AP.
I feel bad enough knowing wild fish are harvested just because we need to feed our "caged" fish.

While I'm at it why do they make Lycra in such large sizes?
Is there no God?
Ok now allow me to get off my soap box..
