i think i should try to explain my system i have an icb plus a blue drum cut down to about 300 mm i am using a kids pool pump to run every thing the onga filter was from a pool i purchased and never used, i am currently cycleing 900 litres an hour it could be more ,i have had to tee it off and put a ball vale in to steady flow to my secondary grow bed to add to filtration . There is a pipe coming from my main grow bed i have put a tee piece to help with the water flow and air ration. the pipe going to grow bed obviously is feeding the top part of the icb then the water that goes down the t intersection goes down back in to tank to help with air and filtration . i can only hope that i have done this correct .

Imagein this photo you can see the pool filter /pump, the pump has no filtration cartridge , the onoga filter is for trapping solids and other unwanted things in the syestem

Put a lid with 90 per cent shade cloth on the tank and wrap the growbed as well. Should solve most of it mate.
