hey

i would like to share my ap system.

i have a pond (about 2-3k litre in capacity) used to connected with a IBC tank and grow bed, but recently i added another two barrel growoing beds to my system.

So a pump of 3000 litre per hour pumps the water to my vertial barrel as a swirl filter, then output to three growing beds. I have 20-25 comets in pond, and 20 murray cod in my ibc tank.

now i have another barrel empty can house fish, any suggestion?

please commet.

Hey Joe, nice set up. Does your ibc ft drain into your pond?

tks skeggley, yes, each barrel gb drain into barrel stands first, then drain into pond. and IBC gb also drain into ibc fish tank first, then drain into pond.

There is a small prob that as pond will not as clean as normal ap fish tank as it exposed more. the water clarity is good, but make the gb dirty.

once we have aquaponics, do we still need the bio ball to make the bio filter? in my system, there is one barrel, hard to approach and access, so i am thinking not put any fish in there, but do i just leave it or it is better to have some bio balls in there.

Short answer, no. Your gb's are the bio filter.
But....
With no fish it's hydroponics.
Cut the lid odd the blue barrel "fish tank" and chuck in some goldfish and, voila, aquaponics.
:D
