My neighbor gifted me his old ap system, and I made a few changes. It's not cut or sized the way I would have done it, but that's cool. Although I think a 2 inch stand pipe, 4 inch siphon pipe, and a 6 inch media guard is nuts, I do get a complete flood/drain cycle in about 5 min. :D It's only been up for a few days, so I plan to add some fish in a couple weeks. I've been adding seaweed extract/with iron and ph down every day to start the cycling process. pH went from 7.6 to 6 in 4 days. I painted the fish tank brown, and left the grow bed like it was. The IBC was originally used to store organic red mulch dye, which, from my research, is iron oxide. No problem there, but it did leave stains which are incredibly hard to remove. The plants are potted plants that were growing on my porch.
