Thanks mate, its a labour of love mostly, just finding it hard to make time for the hobbies lately so everything gets done in installments.

With the rain we have had over the last couple of days it will start to look good. Had very little rain for this season.

Sure BF will be on tomorrow for a full update. Cheers

Ok so I have been a bit lazy lately on the posting front, so here's an update on the fishpond.

firstly we had no decent rains here since the last pics were taken until just recently. Over the last couple of weeks we started getting a few showers and then a couple of good downpours to get the water running off our yard, so the pond is finally full again  .

I also had a bit of a set back about 6 months ago when a rotten cormorant ate all of my new batch of Silver Perch fingerlings. Then when the water level got down very low I netted out the remaining fish and put them into an AP system.

As you may notice in the pictures below I have cut a lot of the vegetation back from around the fringes of the pond. the gardens around the area have grown quite a lot and we can no longer see the Tea House from most areas of our back yard.

When you consider that 4 years ago this was just a bare block of clay soil with no vegetation or top soil, the secret has been the dozens of cubic metres of mulch and waste plant matter we have added.

If we continue to get good rains I will add another batch of Silver Perch to the pond, I have 50 small fingerlings in one of my sumps at the moment, once they are too big for the birds to eat they may get released into the pond. :thumbright:

Yes sadly I have to spend most of the week earning a crust to keep the wolves from the door and fund the landscaping and backyard projects otherwise I could hang out here a lot more and enjoy the surroundings that's for sure.

Trouble is though as soon as I sit down I start thinking of things I could do around the yard or dream up more new projects to kick off.

Ive just finished putting in four new dirt vegie beds in on the other side of the yard.

We should get together when I return and have a barbie mate good with three of us discussing fish crap. We could always invite chainsaw down I 'm sure he would come. By the way I have that auto system on the dirt garden set up, on at 5 pm off at 5:30 pm. New spears coming up so enjoy them while fresh, thanks

So blasted jealous. Anyone know how much depth of clay to retain a pond over a sand/gravel base so I can put one in in my yard?
