Hmmmmm.... I know what you mean, I've just had a couple of oranges split and drop in the last couple of days since I haven't watered and we've had a few warm days.... But I dont know that this would have effected VBs plant in the same way, considering that it has regular water all day every day.........

l3nny - grew them from seed. I'm quite sure splitting is just cause it grew too fast.

I also had some splitting on tommie stalks. Seemed to get an average yield from them though

Bok choy is looking sensational. I have never grown it before so no comparison, but it is growing really well.
Cherry toms are going really well, heaps of fruit and very disease/bug resistant. While all other toms have fungus problems, they do not...

And generally cherry tomatoes are sweeter, and easier to put in salads because you don't have to cut them. And worth a hell of a lot more if your selling them too... I love little toms...

Monya, I am surprised you have not had success with oregano, mine(from cutting) grows incredibly fast.

VB, here is something for you:

High root pressure causes stem splitting in cukes, there is relation here to water. I suggest you do a little digging(if interested)
Here is a start:

(some useful and relevant info here...read all of it ;))

Hi steve just like standard f&d without the center pipe with the small hole just runs in down through the scoria and out again

simple works best! I will use your model for mine. and should be easy to take care of any excited roots that make their way into the pipe!

Cheers

that should be interesting! The only weed I keep pulling out of the grow beds, is Sandpaper Fig, a local species that grows really well in the ground, but has no place in my system. I've removed about 20 seedlings so far.
