The only time Ive experienced that is if the beds were drained for too long ie the pump was switched off for a long time or similar. Did you have the pump off for maintenance or something?

Kitacooch how much media do you have above the water level ? if its to small this can happen i had similar and stopped it by dropping the water level 20mm in the bed that was causing the problem.
Just a thought.

I'm running between 50 and 70mm of media above waterline, it has happened in other beds also but pretty random, all my rhubarb suffered the same fate.

Ok so now i am showing a deficiency of some sort, i added the last of my Iron chelate 3 weeks ago but it was of the FeEDTA variety. My PH is around 6.2. Any thoughts on what the deficiency might be??? I can't seem to get the broccoli or the collie to head, they seem to go spindly and shoot tiny little flower shoots.

Looks like iron,do you have maxi crop or any thing with iron in it ? if you do give them a spray it will give them an immediate boost and give you chance to address the deficiency. But the spindle flower thing is its going to seed, temp to high maybe ?

Yeah I'm hoping some cooler weather will see them less spindly, i will try the maxi-crop spray later today and see.
Thanks

So i pulled out my fav tomato plant today, and with a nice crop on it to :( , I have been trimming it back as the white mealy bugs (in think) and a sooty mould looking deposits on the plant have been making it sick but just couldn't get rid of it. SO i pulled it out but got a surprise when the stench came out from the root zone along with sludge. I am guessing this is the result of root bounding??? No oxygen getting around roots??
If so what do you guys do to keep a good tomato plant going a long time?? Just dig the roots out regularly?

Maybe this - https://extension.umass.edu/vegetable/diseases/bean-rust

It's a type of fungus not an insect even though it looks a bit like a scale insect. Now if those rust spots are moving then I'm wrong :dontknow:

Thanks Scotty, yep thats it, don't know why i didn't google rust and beans lol. But not sure what i can use in AP to treat?? Maybe EcoRose? Same as what used to treat powdery mildew.

Good description though

Try to improve air circulation and don't spray or water from above. You can try the Eco-Rose but I don't think it's supposed to work on this fungus... I do see where Sulfur can be used but don't know of anyone who's tried this for AP. See if someone else has a suggestion - otherwise I'd remove the shoots that show infection and any leaves touching the infected area.

Cheers
