Yes you are in the right place PS, we have a strong community here and are always open to new aquaponic addicts. Got any ideas or plans? If you havnt already, the IBCofAquaponics link at the top right hand side of the forum banner is a great starter to get your head around the basics and general designs.

G'day, quick questions if I may...

would one decent size kiddy pool and two 1000 litre cubes be a good starting point? I have a couple of 12v pumps here and think Maybe the best way to learn, after reading a few threads and some googling, that jumping in head first might be a good way to start.

I found this forum from a member who has given me some sound advice 're my solar set up and I jumped in and made some poor decisions with that and was concerned if I jumped in the deep end with aquaponics I might make the same mistake by chasing tail.

the boss is keen for me to get into it, we have typical brigalow clay and just spent $1000 on a couple of no dig beds, I would like to use our resources more efficiently and have her convinced this is better option. thanks

I watched a heap of YouTube vids today, including the the backyard aquaponics vid... I suppose I was asking stupid questions (of which i am renowned being a dumb arse guitarist), I was just trying to gauge what you could get from starting with to 1000 litre cubes, now I know they are called ibc's, and the kiddy pool. I cut the two cubes up today and prepared the pool, off to the hardware Monday to get the piping and then to raid the dams I have access to, I feel stupid now spending $800 on a truck and dog of poor soil!

The more you read before you start, the fewer expensive oops! you'll make. There will however, always be mistakes to make. The ibc totes you have are a favorite tool among aquaponic gearheads, so it sounds like you're on the right track already. Post pictures of your system as it takes shape!

Have a look at my system, not finished yet and not that old but proof that even with plenty of mistakes made you can still get a system to run. :thumbright:
