Excellent tank to put a window in mate. You could always put a led light on the bottom for when needed. Unlike Jades Barra do not seem to mind extra light. System looking good. Cheers

As long as you can reach the Union without having to go head first down into the tank.
Keep a mesh bag with a drawstring or eleastic handy so when you do pull the slow out for cleaning, you can stick the mesh bag over the pipe to keep strays from exploring your plumbing.

And be careful when pulling things apart and pulling it out o you don't loose the seal from the Union down into the tank. Well then again, if the Union is under water, it won't matter much if there is a seal in it or not I guess.

Bit of shade cloth and a zip tie is always handy...

Thanks ccBear

Another thing not to plant in aquaponics... chinese 5 spice.... it goes ballistic... even the cutting i chucked in the garden took off.

One of the barras, a smaller one. There were also a couple of 400mm+ (i know, no picture means it didnt happen), i just didnt want to stress them to much.

I went to the local hardware store for some fittings (1 length of 50mm pressure pipe, 1 32mm valve and 2 32mm pipe connectors for $100) I had to see that they sell expanded clay... $90 for a 50l bag... At least a German product...

Pricing has not changed always over the top. When I finished my RFS last week I used a 1 inch pressure fitting which had a price tag from the Humpty Doo hardware shop. Purchased about '91 when we lived at Girraween.

So, the fish has settled in nicely. They are feeding great, I was just kind of 10cm away from the window and they were snapping the food away right in front of my face. Makes a nice sound because of the covered top.

Cheers

Thanks Charlie

I had to make a trip to B today and look what I scored...

5 heavy duty tubs in the size 850 * 600 * 500 mm, that's around 250l each for $15 a piece. Just because I got told the wrong price first up... They have them reduced for stock take to $33. I don't know what they normally ask for them.

I think I will save 2 off them for when we get goats as watering thingies...

The last time I had that much I just dried them and they go into pasta sauce, rubs for roasts and ribs. I like food with a moderate heat... If we don't have chilli everything gets a bit of peri peri on it...

Thanks myst. It was great buying that one, got the trailer to go with it as well... After we bought the block I had to buy so many toys... Aehmmm... TOOLS... Second favourite is a brush cutter with a carbide tipped blade instead of a nylon string. That cuts through 50mm saplings in a second. :-D

Hi gwydion, have been busy for a while now but I am starting to free up some time now. It would be good to catch up. My system is going strong now. I have had to install a float vv for auto top up though. Give us a call when you get some time. Rick.
