You want serous investors but it's a bit hard to take you serious with a post like that.

First of all to give you the benefit of the doubt, good luck.

People have got to the point on this forum that new people talking about commercial AP tend to be viewed through a prism built from all the previous experience we have had with people who don't have a clue what they are doing and don't show much sign of being willing to learn.

Announcing a project like your on this forum is a good thing (I think) but don't expect to be overwhelmed with enthusiasm.

Check out Ryan's thread Chatterson Farm which he started after being a member for a while. Also demonstrate that you are willing to learn or as in Ryan's case willing to teach as well.

If you are going to be asking questions and want to be talking about the commercial applications of AP make sure you are doing some background reading on the forum but also about HP and RAS. Timmons "recirculating aquaculture" is a great book on RAS as in LeKang "Aquaculture Engineering". The former is better (easier to understand) for explaining RAS principles while the latter is better at farm as well as operation design and layout.

second in other forums like linkedin i am getting posts from people who dont have a clue in aquaponics
i am aiming on a domestic market where all vegetables or most of them are imported and mine will be marked local and it sells better i am willing to learn and teach the staff if i have to hire a specialist i do that
i am not looking for 1000 liter tank in my backyard

Wishing you all the luck in the world, but fear you will like Santa Cruz farms(in the video link) will probably fail. From what I've read and studied, a large scale AP system is extremely difficult, if not impossible to make profitable, unless you have a warm climate, outdoor growing conditions, and some very cheap labor. Like Stuart said, check out Ryan's thread. Even with his knowledge, he developed a niche market and demands a premium price for his goods. He also has worked extremely hard and made very few mistakes...something that most people without a lot of experience will have the luxury of doing. Again, good luck, but I would suggest a small system and a market trail first before asking for any huge investments.

Excellent. That means that when it comes to greenhouse engineering and construction you probably know more than anyone else on the forum.

I hope you don't take offence to Charlie's or my comments. You wouldn't believe some of the rubbish we have had to contend with on this forum.

I think Iceland is an excellent place to make a go of commercial AP because as you say cheap energy (especially low grade heat and high grade for that matter) and a market that has to import fresh almost all fresh produce plus a principal that has sound business experience. Sounds like the beginnings of success to me.

Mind you only the beginnings but you have to start somewhere.

I agree with charlie one hundred percent... you are not serious... is this the way people go about looking for investors.. where is your business projection ... where are your blue prints.... what are your favored market... and you want people to give your money that easily... bess I believe the class when ppl say you won 1 billion dollars and all they need is your credit card number... please come better than this..

We cant tell how serious he is. It is one of the ways that investment money can be sort. Does it have a high likely hood of success? No, but neither does cold calling a whole stack of superannuation firms or VCs but you have to start somewhere and it has a higher chance of success than going to a bank.


Why would he post business plan or blue prints? You would only get to see those after expressing interest and after signing non disclosure agreements.

As to favoured market he has identified that namely Iceland and has pointed out that most fresh ingredients are imported which probably means the majority come from Holland and Spain which means they can sell produce at a higher margin and potentially still be cheaper than imports.

An announcement like this is maybe not a good start but you have to start somewhere and this process would be the begining of both operators and investors getting to know and trust each other before there was even a discussion of terms let alone a transfer of money.

Give the guy a break. Also remember there could be a language barrier issue as well. Time will tell if he is another shiester, tree hugging hippy or serious contender.

I guess we can hear him out.. but quick note for the future is if or when you decide to ask for investment being whatever the reason.. you must approach it as if you are trying to convince a loan officer for the money... its not what you say but its how you go about saying it... food for thought..

Santa Cruz aquaponics went bust, I don't think that growing power style of system has ever been commercially viable and a few people have tried now..

Having cheap/free geothermal heat and government money sure won't hurt his chances.(:

You might try funding the land purchase with lots of small investors online rather than one big investor. Too much risk for most big investors unless they just like throwing money away. Really the small ones can't afford it either.
