Hi icelandic
You might want to look in to charr as salmonid specie of choise, the growth rate deepends on numerous parameters also it varies on type trout available to you

You fine contact persons and R&D data from Iceland + other nordic countrys in the link

edit some more here http://www.northcharr.eu/page.cfm?open= ... idor_id=59

Salvelinus fontinalis(charr, brook trout) downside....... slow growth compared to rainbow trout, even if you provide optimum parameter still slow growth.
Quality of flesh is slightly better than rainbow, and added benefit of a delicious caviar!

That's interesting. One of our members had brook trout and rainbows at the same time and said the brooks were out growing rainbows. I wonder if our common name and your common name of "brook trout" are referring to a different species?

Hi
Growth rate deepends alot on where you source the charr
http://www.northcharr.eu/pdf/coldwater_ ... lation.pdf

Rainbow is not native(invasive) so more restrictions to source & keep (around here) might be different in Iceland?

cheers
