I didn't have to "go around" to find it out... it was all done with one push of a button... at the bottom of your last post I read.

...and yes, the forum is free... and yes, we are entitled to speak our own thoughts, as I did in my previous post... and yes, we are all entitled to our own opinions... unless of course we don't agree with your hypothesis.

You have told quite a few people what they are doing is wrong, even very experienced AP practitioners...

...and yes, you have said what you are doing is right... remember, we're not allowed to question you, so that in itself suggests you believe you are always right... and you obviously don't like it when someone questions that.

This board has a "members systems" section. Why don't you start a thread there and tell us about your system? More people will see it there than here on page 11 of an iron deficiency thread.

I'm not going to get any further into this debate but just wanted to point out that what I love about this forum is how you guys are so brutally honest. Its so refreshing in comparison to the stereotypical female conversations where peeps are sweet but bitchiness reigns. Love it!

Love how you guys are able to give AND cop criticism.

Bumping this thread...

For anyone interested, I've managed to track down cheaper EDDHA chelated iron in VIC & NSW for $22.66 + inc GST for 1kg bag:

http://www.campbellsfert.com.au/ferrilene.aspx

.. but it looks like a mix of EDDHSA & EDDHA. Anyone know anything about the EDDHSA and if that is ok etc?

Yep I'm aware it will turn my water red but I don't mind as it seems to be the best for the plants

ok called them to clarify, the EDDHSA is a different product so ignore that

EDDHA 1kg $23, which is 6% soluable iron

It does get really red and is almost impossible to get rid of.. also it makes it hard to see fish deeper than 30cm. Also it isn't so much that it is better but that it works at a different ph range and I think that range is probably more than you need...just my two cents worth :D

noted, thanks.. I haven't made up my mind yet what to next order.

Seeing Nate and Wilson Lennard use DTPA, I'm tempted to just follow suit.

How often do you re-dose your DTPA chelated iron in your system Tom?

Thought I'd throw my two cents in. DTPA is fairly photosensitive. It's half life in full sunlight is 30 minutes. So the more covered your sump and tank is, the better. Before I increased my tanks shade, I found that I had to re-dose twice a week

Well when I started using 12% DTPA I worked out that I needed 50g every 3 weeks for my system water volume (or something around that) but now I probably just dose 25g every 2-4 weeks as I am trying to see if any deficiencies appear which they have not yet and I don't like the idea of adding anything unnecessarily... however I occasionally add a bit to the Seasol I spray directly onto plants when I am chillin in the greenhouse (or sweating at the moment through this heatwave).
I still have the iron that turned the water red but only used it once... I used it after watching Nates videos too... but if you look in the comments after the videos you will notice that he was unaware of the red colouring effect and was looking into it.. I have changed my water several times and I still have difficulties seeing the bottom of my 1 metre deep IBC FT.. which makes observing the fish less fun and problematic when seeing if they are healthy  but if thats not a problem then it certainly is supposed to be the best Iron.. not to mention the most difficult to get and expensive.
