Hi Guys

Is anyone growing Rainbow Trout in the Northern Rivers of NSW?

I live in Ballina and as the summer will shortly be over I was thinking about using rainbow Trout in my new system.

Thanks
Matthew

Hi ccBear

Yes you are allowed to keep them here however I am not sure if our temp will be too warm for them.

If you know of anyone who has kept them in the Northern River of NSW I would love to hear of their experiance.

Thanks
Matthew

No mate but suggest you ring your local fisheries and have a chat. The may have suggestions for you and advise wher you could buy them.

From reading on the site you need to ensure your water is not over 22 c at any time and under that is preffered.

Temperature wise, Ballina should be fine for Rainbow Trout at least from April until November, if you have your FT (and ST if you have one) covered and insulated and don't gain too much heat through your GBs in hot weather.
