Do the Penguin TC!

:laughing3:

Before our twins were born, my wife Kate, was so large that when we went Christmas shopping I had to collect a wheelchair from the security office and wheel her around the shops to get everything she wanted. She could hardly waddle by the end of her term. :)

That was of course mixed in with a ton of unasked for baby advice right?

Naw, already got most of the baby advice earlier on.
Actually most of the family has been fairly reasonable with the advice. Mom's labor stories are of course on one side of the spectrum (I was 5 weeks early and my brother was one of those horror story labors.) Aunt Sharon had such easy labors that if she had had a 4th baby, she probably wouldn't have made it to the hospital to give birth since hers progressed very quickly. (Unfortunately Aunt Sharon isn't related by blood since she only married into the family 5 years ago, Oh well.)

At least I have very eager and willing helpers here for at least the first month after the estimated delivery. I just need to find myself some help for after the snow bird generation goes back to Michigan and the Cook has to go off for work this summer, there are just some things you are not supposed to do while wearing the baby.

The sister of a friend of mine gave birth in the hospital lift.

The nurse attempting to console her said "Don't worry dear two years ago a lady gave birth on the lawn in front of the hospital."

My friends sister replied "That was me!"

TC, you and Stuart cracked me up.

Been there for the birth of all my children, was always scary and awesome at the same time.

I have seen a CCTV clip of a pregnant woman walking along the shelves in a supermarket wearing cycling shorts and suddenly grabbing at her leg and pulling a baby of the leg of her pants. It kinda freaked me out.

Moral of the story? Don't go shopping in cycling shorts while pregnant.

:shifty:

Sounds like she would have been a good candidate for home birth.

It would have been better than a Lawn birth.

My wife did a water birth. She was amazing. I was in the tub with her. It was one of the greatest moments of my life.

There was a paper from Australia that bode ill for water births, so most hospitals will only let you water "labor." When the baby is about to pop out, they expect women to hop on up into the stirrups. We went to a birth center, and had the best care in the world.

I wish there was a birth center closer to where I live, I might have been willing to switch to go to one if there was one less than an hour drive away. Actually, I wish our hospital had tubs or at least showers for the Labor rooms!!!! Not that I am looking to do a water birth but if labor isn't really fast, I could see wanting to take a soak or at least have some hydrotherapy. I don't think I could justify going terribly far when the Hospital my OB works with is about 20 minutes away even in the heaviest of traffic (the hospital is practically across the road from our general practitioners office and I'm going to interview the pediatricians that are next door to her.)

Ah well, perhaps I could have gone the rout of a Midwife but everyone was kinda freaking out because I'm a wee bit older than average for a first pregnancy and since we were not actively trying to get pregnant that hard, we hadn't already planned everything out before hand and I was actually done with the first trimester before we found out for certain that I was actually pregnant. (My first Ultrasound they estimated I was already like 14 weeks along when I was thinking more like 8-10.)

Would have been a lot cheaper to get a midwife but that might have taken a lot of searching since many Midwives won't take on what they consider to be a high risk pregnancy. To some that might mean 46 years old is still fine while others might simply say Oh no no one over 36 I don't care how healthy you are.

Anyway, it is pouring rain today so I don't see myself out gluing pipes on the system expansion so I guess I'll have to work on cleaning/organizing the desk and getting ready to do taxes.
