Welcome to the forum, rick.

Just start a thread about your system and put lots of pictures in it, that enables lots of people to help you if you run into trouble.

Cheers

Hi Gwydion,

I will start a thread just as soon as I can figure out how to do it.
I am just deciding whether or not to get my fish to put in my system this weekend.
The last ones I put in all died, but the guy at the fish store said they had a problem with that batch so he will give me some replacement ones.

All good Bear it's going along nicely mate apart from a caterpillar infestation, have been spraying with Dipel but we have had 1 rain free day out of the last 30 days and over 700ml of rain for January and it's still going. When are we going to se you again mate? You must be due to pop in and check on your property portfolio some time soon.

I was losing a number of fish there for a while 1 every second day or so and couldn't work out why but got that sorted in the end by increasing the calcium hardness and general hardness in the water.

Hello

I will give you a call when my system upgrade is finished (new tank slab next weekend, new tank (5000l) the week after) and the system is cleaned up. Only growing Kang Kong and several varieties of cucumber lately, tomatoes aren't doing to well with all the rain and heat.

Cheers

No problem look forward to it, 5000lt is one mother of a tank. I know what your talking about with the tomatoes I have a large cherry tomato that is getting hammered by caterpillars at the moment not having any trouble with heat just the bloody caterpillars.

Hi, been a bit busy of late but slowly starting to get back on track. My fish are going great but it look like we may have to move house. I have spoken to the guy I bought my fish off and he has agreed to baby sit till I am back up and running. I am going to order up some activated clay balls for when I get going again though. How are things going for you?

The second hand building material shop on Pruen Rd has some clean ones (make sure you can see what was in them) or cheaper at places like Caltex Oils on Coonawarra Road in Winnellie (take the ones with leftover mineral oil in them, might be easier to clean than synthetic oil and doesn't smell as bad.

You are a little bit late, i just sold 2.5 ibc on Gumtree

Thanks Gwydion. Typical luck for me it would seem.
I took a look at the dump shop and while they still have a few ibcs they nearly all have the top cut off the plastic and have either been damaged or have had near looking stuff inside then previously.

Will take a look where you suggest when I can borrow a work ute.

Is there someone else here from the northern suburbs of Darwin? I was out walking the dog the other evening and saw an impressive setup backing onto a small local park.

I'd be very interested in picking their brains for the best way to do wicking beds with corrugated iron and ibc aqua if they look here.
