Just wondering if anyone in Melb would like to share where they get their IBCs and 200L blues from?

I have found a source for the 200L drums ($25'ish each and non-toxic), but the same source has the IBC's for $250. There must surely be a cheaper source than that (or Ebay)?

Even 24 months ago I was able to buy them from an on-seller for $100 each. Has the drought pushed prices up that high?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Aaron.

Guys,

No doubting the drought has affected price and supply (that's not the question I was trying to address). A lot more people in the marine aquarium hobby are using them as well, to store sea water in. Every supplier I have spoken to has confirmed supply of IBC’s is limited due to demand.

I guess my question (since it’s the only one being addressed!) is whether its pushed prices up THAT much.

In asking that I was basically asking.... has anyone, or does anyone in Melb have a cheaper source for them than what I have been quoted?

Aaron.

try your local trading post Aron, or salvage yards, you should able to get them a little cheaper I would have thought..

Hey Aaron, IBC's are used to carry bulk detergents like the ones that the fire brigades use, also the Airport firies as well, Other places to scrounge stuff like that is places with wash points (army depots, Large Carwashing places) Ummmmm Also water testing places. Do you have any friends/ relos that inhabit those types of areas? It is always better to get it for free than to pay for it :)
Cheers Axl

sorry AJ, sometime we have a bit of fun. (just dont mention the drought ;))

sersiously though IMHO it IS the lack of water and restrictions that have pushed the prices up THAT much.

I'll go for a drive past the re-cycle yard if i can tomorrow and scope out the prices, but i doubt they'll be under $150 - $180 now
