you know what they say about fools and their money.....................

for every fool there is a gifted spin doctor..............not that i'm implying that any names thus far are ;)

Personally and in my most humblest ;) opinion? If your system and/or technology is so good why move into consultancy?

Sort of like the lotto "system" i can teach you how to beat the system by buying my software for $5K. Hell, i'd just use my own product to make myself filthy rich and retire. Make you wonder..............

I've gotta say guys - I went to the same lectures as you lot and the numbers never impressed me, and I'm sure the ones quoted were very optimistic anyway.

can't remember exactly, but i think i WAS impressed.

Thing is, IMO, sustainable often doesn't tie in with making HUGE amounts of money. When you try and marry the two then you're asking for trouble.........know what i mean?

That's for sure... but if I was looking to purchase a commercial venture then ...

(1) I'd like to know it worked and be able to see it working

(2) If I was buying into something conceptual I'd want either a grass roots entry price and/or significant stated returns

(3) And I'd sure as hell want better than a $5000 return on a $20,000 investment....

even $25,000 annually by the time you take out taxes, overheads etc just isn't enough to make it a viable commercial operation....

probably only just enough to make it a struggling lifestyle pursuit... just LOL

That is what the Qld Gov do, re water, they take money from us, waste it, fail to deliver, then when they only have a few weak solutions, they spend a max amount of time on working out how much they are going to charge us for something they are not sure if they can deliver.
Sorry, but Gov is a master (particularly Qld state gov) at not delivering and charging extaordinary fees,(NB.. There are no new taxes).
Well that is my bitch for the day

Any hard nosed investor would jump at an investment that returns 25% per annum . Even the hottest share on the ASX is unlikely to return 25% per annum.

What was the expected period of return for the investment? A few thousand is hard enough to live without for an extended time let alone $20K.

Dad invested in the conversion of the chocolate factory to flats in the eastern states for what we thought would be a 2 year investment. That was over $10,000 and the return was supposed to be $15K. It took 4 years, because of all the holdups they had eg. Sept 11, but they still came through in the end.

Yeah, probably a fair call there Muzz on a percentage basis...

...was more looking at it from a point of view of $20,000 + installation/consultancy costs for a first year return of $25,000 ...

then a $25000/annum return... minus running costs (unknown) => remainder profit/living expenses...

Worth it ???? as a commercial operation....dunno IMHO

Find me a business that I can setup for $20,000 (even $25 - 30,000) and get a return of $25,000 each year and I will be VERY happy. That is a return on investment (ROI) of 100% . As Murray said, a return of 25% (of the amount invested) per year is really good. Putting money in a term deposit in the bank will give you around 5 or 6%.

Seeing as how they only have a "prototype system" "undergoing refinement", which hasn't actually produced anything yet....I'm kind of wondering just what sort of value and information might be presented.

I think there's more expertise and for that matter long standing real world expertise here on this forum.

Take Joel for instance ... nudge, nudge,
