They do work, for thin materials you have to put some kind of backing behind it so that it seals better.

No problems in IBC or blue drums. Holes best cut with a proper hole saw, do not use tungsten tip hole saws.

Clean the edge of the hole inside and outside using deberring tool or sharpe knife.
