Sorry to be a downbeat but those plastic tubs have a very limited life when exposed to sunlight. I have them as wicking tubs in my greenhouse and after 4 years they are starting to become very brittle. I am buying up blue barrels when I can find them to make half blue barrel wicking beds to replace the plastic tubs

Sorry Mantis, i missed your post, yeah i was saying to Charlie i think that, i have been scratchin my chin a bit over these tubs, so far it has been so far so good, I am kind of holding off using my last 3 IBC's for a second system in case i need to cut them down for grow beds.
We have to move again in July and i will see how they hold up being lifted and carried again and make a judgement call on them then.

We'll see what happens.

We are not suffering too badly from the heat yet, yesterday was 36ish with water temps of 22degC.

No loss of life so far but we have a week of 40's coming up, so by the end of the week that may change.

5 months after planting, Growth is steady, green tomatoes everywhere, and still eating nightly out of here.

The new filtration system and solar are working a treat, so it was the worth the chaos to get that sorted out....except for the bio-film issue but that's another adventure in itself, but we are over coming that too.

All in all we are pretty happy.

no mate, we were safe again this year thankfully.

Well, if your weary on the travel across, and your passing this way, you will find an ale or coffee or a feed here anytime.

It will be a shame to see that system of yours in pieces though!

Thanks Porter, Ill keep it in mind mate, Id say Id be getting a little dry by that stage of the trip and a cold ale would definately save the day. Be a treat to see that system of yours in the flesh too.

Ill miss my set up, its kinda like loosing a mate as strange as that sounds. Put a few hours into over the years.

Not strange at all, my friend, not strange at all, i know just what you mean.
It will be just a shame that i will have no big fish to plate if you come past the mountain.

Hi Jono, thanks mate,
The only time we add anything is in between fish crops and then its only seasol.
Our system is only around 1100litres so i just add 1 litre of seasol per week until i get some more.
Other than that, nothing else mate,

Regards

Well it seems that all that cut back achieved was to cause an explosion in more tomatoes!
it's getting a touch out of hand now. :?

On the upside, we have two pregnant yabbies separated from the rest of the system now. I have 6 females left and i am hoping (partly) that no more turn up in roe because i have nowhere to put them!

Maybe i should build a yabbie dedicated system!!!

Maybe i have enough on my plate to do this year...
