Lettuces go great don't they.
I like your propagating method - let us know how you go - transplant once they pop up?

Nice job matt, looks like the system is coming along really well, patience + time and provided you dont overstock and you will have a very productive system.

Neat system. I steered away from IBC's due to their industrial look but the right shade of green seems to do the job.

Expansion time! I had always planned on adding two more grow bed/ sumps but I do have the space for another 3...

I already have two cut and ready to be plumbed the same as my existing two, I'm tossing up 2 ideas for the 3rd and appreciate any feedback!

First idea is to just cut it the same as existing grow beds which would see a total of 1500l of media, with a second fish tank also to come online meaning 1800l of total ft.. I'd like more media mass to allow greater stocking densities and was thinking about putting gravel in the sumps say 100l in each one giving me a total 2000l of media...

Idea #2 is to keep the 5th ibc in one piece and fill it with 1000l of gravel and run as a constant flood grow bed meaning 2200l total media/ filtration..

I'm leaning toward idea 2, thoughts?

Was going to start with 20 SP though I've just found some barra at 80-110mm, do you think I will be able to grow these out by end of summer?

From what I've read you need plate size barra to begin with here and looking at most threads, bar a couple, the fish stocks are poorly. My plan was barra in summer also however I've gone sp's instead. I do have 2 tanks though so I'm hoping to do trout again next year as they are much fun.
I can recommend troutman to supply fish, so far I have purchased 75 flings from him and haven't lost any to sickness. Salt up your water before you add fish as a safety measure.

I've got x2 fish tanks so I might give x10 barra a try in one of the tanks, I'm an expat territorian so having barra in my backyard will remind me of home! Plus if their not plate size by end of season I can probably sell them on gumtree to aquarium enthusiast

Hey Carg where did u get your Barra from ??? Good to see you took your time to get all setup and running, not just throwing fish straight in and wondering why things start to go wrong then over compensating to try fix the problems that human error created.

nice looking systems bud and cant wait to see how ya Barra go and watch the plants take off now the fish are add into a well established system.

Lost my first barra today....

He got up my SLO and I found him in the growbed.... Agh here I was thinking "they won't get in there"

Anyway I pulled apart all my piping to make sure I hadn't lost any others which thankfully I hadn't, have done a temp fix by putting some shade cloth over the bottom of the SLO and poking some bigger holes in it so it doesn't clog.. Proper fix on the weekend..
