Been messing around with tommies in the DWC the last few weeks and they are going crazy. I even tied up a shoot and hung it in the cup hole and its grown roots half way up the stem, really cool.

Hi Charlie, it will be interesting to see how the roots grow, I saw a tomato plant in another floating raft system and one plant took over more than half of an IBC bed about 300mm deep. Your plants look like they're going to go nuts. :D

Yeah tomato cuttings are crazy :) I've given away a dozen cuttings shoved into the growbed which have grown crazy roots.

Charlie, reminds me of the way soil growers lay the stem on the soil for a part of the stem before they let it go vertical, roots the same…only vertical not horizontal

My indetermitatesi laid about 4 inches across the gravel and all of it put roots down, don’t know why i did it but i read it somewhere, anyway it really give them a strong base. What benefit that gives them in a Aquaponic grow bed situation iam not sure…. :laughing3:

I've also read that its not a good idea in the later stem as the hormones change to make more shoots rather than put energy into the fruit. Was in Chattersons farm is born thread (based on hydroponic growing practices)

Hey CHarlie, that glass looks the perfect size. If you lower it into one of the holes it would stick out halfway. Do you think it would grow?

Martin.
