You will like it, it takes the weight off the rocks and stops them holding onto each other. :)

Hi Jamie

How is the system going? Have you started a system thread yet?

Haven't started a thread yet. Got it planted/cycling an hour ago. Not sure if I've over planted the grow bed though.

Just wondering if anyone knows where to buy/find duckweed? I'm thinking of growing some to feed the fish. Has anyone used it before/have any tips and advice?

I got some from a nursury which had a water plant and pond section covered in it, they scraped up a bag full from between the pots (and charged me $2 for it).. It was one in Kadina, but should work anywhere..

They did try to give me azola from the pond at first, apparently some people had come in asking for duckweed before and wanted that instead (or just didn't know the difference)..

I can spare a handful. PM me your address and I'll drop some off in your letter box tomorrow morning.

Thanks Sam! I separated it into 3 containers, 1 in the sun, 1 on the kitchen window and 1in the shade with an airstone. Hopefully one will get some good growth.

leave it in the sun...... let it get as hot as you like.... mine went nuts all the way up to 35c plus water temps. the hotter it is teh more it grows... just make sure it has plenty of fish poop to keep it well fed.

Going to start a thread sometime this week hopefully. I may have had a massive oversight when buying my pump. I bought an AP3000. Because it isn't a dirty water pump, does that mean it's not pumping fish solids into the GB? If so do I have to buy a DW pump or can I modify the pump(take filter out) without breaking it. Or best case scenario, it's fine?

Fish waste isn't particularly solid, JaMa88, so your clean water pump should handle your fish water quite adequately.
