Hiya Frank, glad to hear you've got fish swimming in your sys. Did you find the problem?
I understand that you get plate sized barra to begin with so stocking density wouldn't be great. Why not go sp's?

Great news - sounds like it turned the corner! Did the Marron survive?

Hi Skeggley yes it is running good now Gabe came and had a look at the system and pointed me in the right direction ( Thanks Gabe) i have thought of sp`s as they are easy to get hold of but slow growing but i wonder if they taste any thing like redfin perch as i like them. All the marron survived but did find them a couple of times walking around the back patio although the babies did not survive. The veggies are really taking of now and we are regularly harvesting from the system although the only thing not doing any good is the strawberries but thats ok as the one in pots and soil are doing great.

If I'd had runoff from treated pine in a system, I'd do a 100% water change and also flush out the GBs (ie drain the lot and thoroughly flush everything out before refilling) if I wanted to be sure it was fish safe and the food to be people safe.

Frank

Looks really great.

I am interested in how you go with the NFT. I tried 90mm PVC stormwater pipe but the water got so warm in the PVC that it killed the plants. I suggest you keep the flow rate relatively high and keep the water level quite high.

This should keep the water temp down.

Good luck

Gabe

progress on the NFT system so far its all good the plants have been in 2 days and all standing up and some of the flowers opened up. might have to rethink the delivery as it got blocked a couple of times today.
