Here is a look at the mess I have now. Why did I try to do mint.

Burnt spots where it grew into the CFLs also there is a strawberry plant in there also.

I'm thinking of stopping this system. I don't really use the mint or basil.

I could do Mojitos, but that would take a lot of rum to use that much mint up.

And that begs the question, why ruin perfectly good rum with mint?

I still have the system running. Basil is starting to grow into trees. Mint died off but roots still green and new shoots coming up from them. Just have not felt like doing a video update.

I'm a little pissed today. :upset: Yesterday I took the catfish out of the tank for a minute or two to get a size and weight estimate on it because it is getting to large and was going to look around for someone interested in buying or taking it. Come home tonight and the damn thing is dead in the bottom of the tank. It was getting a bit large because it kept bumping into side and the pvc pipe. I did do a recording last night but about 2/3 of that video means nothing now. :( :(

length 15.25" or 39cm and around 3lbs or 1.5kg

Just to let you guys know that this system is still running. Video update in a day or so.

This system has been running for over a year now and everything is going well. Still have the 2 big fantail gold fish and albino pleco from months ago. Mint has taken over the growbed with the roots and a maple tree is doing good also in it. I was getting about a 2 cm/day height on the tree now and is getting a bit large.

Glad to see everything is still working Rob. If you've got any basil left and are into making pizza, pesto makes a great pizza sauce :thumbright:

I don't remember posting that. :) Anyway here are a few pictures of what I have for today.

The weird dead looking stick thing is a maple tree that has been through some hard times but is doing great other than looking like crap after the leaves wilted on me after the room got a bit cold. Well it is winter and trees like it outside are without leaves..... Mint is doing great other than I am not really using it for anything right now. The can off to the right side is a Chocolate hot pepper plant. There are 3 small seedlings in it around 4-5cm tall

I have been looking at a swirl filter or similar. Is there a small scale version out there for a small system? My sump is starting to make me mad with the crap and uneaten food even cleaning the sump every few days. The main fish tank looks great.

Thinking of something like a pretzel tub or similar.

I did a video update but having issues with Sony Vegas and .avi video, but .mov has a always works great. I will probably cut video and upload without the part talking about the actioncam part...

I have a small pretzel tub I will see what I can do with it. Thinking about doing it the same water height as the fish tank. Water height raises in fish tank and forced into the filter. Use the filter as part of the water bridge to the sump.

I'm working on a filter, but not sure how well it will work. We will see.
I have been taking some videos during the build. More of a little rant of what I have and going to make not really full instructions or anything.
