I would harvest it now, Charlie. It looks just like the two artichokes in my vegetable crisper. :)

Thanks PJ. Is it strange that the stalks are not very long? Every image I look at on the net suggests the stalks should be a lot longer. This is the reason I am a little confused.

p.s. got any cooking tips? :)

There are the hearts that you eat and then you can also take the fleshy base parts of the leaves (after steaming) and you pull them off and dip in garlic butter and scrape the inside of the base of the leaf with your teeth. Primarily a way to eat butter I guess while pretending to consume a veggie.

Good timing Keith, I steamed that little sucker last night and it was totally delicious! Why have I never tried one of these before? Yum - yum!

I could have left it a little longer though after seeing the insides, maybe another week but not sure. Ill let the others go a bit longer and see what happens.

There will always be some little leaves in the center. I think you harvested at the right time.

Ry-man!!!! Whats happenin my brothaaaaa! How was your swing?

Yea, sadly Im starting to shut the big girl down as we are heading off in about 12 weeks. The raft actually has my catfish in it now that I overwintered, oh and a few yabbies. Its still plumbed up and water flowing but the filter barrels are off line as its just something else I dont have time for so its become an extra FT for the moment.

You know I bought the new place right?

Congrats on the new place mate. Last time i check in you were keeping it on the down low until it was a firm deal. Not long till the big move then!

You going to take the fish with ya? If I hear those silvers dont end up in your belly ill be telling everyone that you are a vegetarian :P

Wednesday was my first day back at work in 6 weeks. Nearly killed me mate. There should be laws against getting up a 3:30 i tell ya :support:

Man its getting hot here again, fish smashing the feed, my little catfish escaped down the DWC drain and now reside with the big SP's and they seem to be getting along well. The cats are having a field day on all the algea and crap in there. Plants are booming and Ive been collecting tomato shoots and Im going to trial them in the DWC (decided to bring it back on line again) just for a bit of fun.

Few tommie pics today...
