Hello Friends, I've been given 5 - 55 gal barrels two of which are black. The other three are blue. Do you think I can clean these black barrels enough to be safe for me my fish and my plants. I don't know what these barrels may have contained. Please let me know what you think. Thanks, Gil

The color of the barrel should not make any difference. The blue barrels will be just as toxic if they held something hazerdous. If there is no way to officially find out what the barrels held, I would wash/dry them and see if any smell or residue remained. If not I would try them out - though you may want to set up as a separate system so as not to endanger contaminating an existing system.
