Water is slowly clearing up - about 1 foot depth visible.
49 Silver perch into the tank - swimming around casually in the current looking for skretting dust which I blended to powder.

Yeah the cos lettuce is my favourite snack with a spring onion sprig rolled up in the middle.
Very relaxing sitting and listening to bubbly water. I think I can see the plants growing before my eyes.

I've had major success with tomato laterals making new plants - just put into the rocks nearby - maybe 1-2 weeks and they have roots.

I've put some jade perch in 7-10cm and a few larger SP. Will they eat the smaller ones?

Should be fine... both species have small mouths...

Jaymie has been mixing Jades and Silvers since day one in her system...

Just read through the entire thread.
Am I jealous??????
YES, I AM........... up to a point that it hurts!!!!!!!!!!!

Why or Why do my plants not grow compared to yours????

And why have I managed to kill 25 Trouts and 20 Silvers ????

It's not fair :( :( :(

Must be the weather over there or over here. Maybe I should try to decimate Barras next?

I have scoria on the bottom - nice amount of bacteria. The water level is pretty high on this system as oppossed to my other system which has 3-5cm below the top.

I wish I knew what to say but I think the main principal I had was patience.

I'm having some nutrient problems in this system - search 'basil deficiency' in this site for some good help.

I've had 4 fish deaths and 1 escapee. Some flashing going on and I've now salted the system. The little ones have some fin rot and white stuff in small sections. I've found 4 dead on the bottom and one escaped out the tube somehow.

This guy was the escapee and had been there for a while

Actually haven't played guitar yet - good idea - but yes always sit in the chair and listen to the bubbling water. Starting to get hot in there.

Bet your getting excited about your system ??

I must say the most pleasurable thing about AP is the fact that it looks after its self over a wide area, for one square meter that you look after (the fish tank).

Fish update:
After a little scare there I think they are looking much healthier and weren't flashing this morning.
Water is finally clear !!! horay
I've put the Halia air compressor in finally and the venturi works great.
Possible causes of contamination ----
- 4 treated pine screws in the sump
- peeling bark from a redgum sleeper
- floating snails in the sump
- over feeding (blended to a powder trout skreeting)
- gunk or dead fish in the bottom (couldn't see through the water for ages)

Topped up the water this morning - salinity probably about 5ppt
