I'm in Colorado where cannabis has been legal-ish long enough that there are lots of supplies from the indoor growing market readily available on the secondhand market. My entire carnivorous plant setup and more besides has been built on the cheap thanks to stoners learning how hard it is and giving up on their magic green thumb dreams :headbang: . Flood tables however seem to usually be in the 7" deep range where APers seem to go for 12"+ deep for grow beds.

Anyone like commercial GBs for media? Or does most everyone build with pond liner and lumber? Don't mind building at all but lightweight, stackable, easily-repaired flood trays seem like they might be nice...

They should work for small root crops, but you may need to use more of them to get the media surface area for bacteria to colonise in AP, you will also get large temp fluctuations using them outdoors

The hydro F&D trays will be fine for most leafy greens...

Just remember to stock your fish level to the volume of your media...

Thanks R. You mean take in to account that an F&D table has less volume for filtration/bioactivity right?

Hmm... that's interesting. It might be cost-effective for me to use more secondhand trays than to build deep grow beds, assuming I can light the add'l area.
