9 pills in total.

Tis a funny thing, but I actually think it has some merit.

Probably. Although as you get older, you might need to plan on increasing the number in proportion to the number of symptoms and/or maladies you have, if you develop more of them. Otherwise you might not get to be around long enough to live in your first 3D printed house!

Which makes me think of a patient I had recently. Every once in a while, one comes along who makes me wonder which of us is really the healer in the room, because I walk out suspecting I've gained more from the visit than they have. She was one of those.

They sent me to see her because she was supposed to be suicidally depressed. And when I read the notes in her chart about all the stuff she'd gone through in her life the past few years, I thought she had every reason to be. It made ME depressed, and I wasn't living in the middle of it. But she was anything but depressed. She had such a pragmatic outlook, and was far more focused on being grateful for what she still had than on pining for what she had lost. She was in her late 70s, and was fascinated with technology. Among the few things she still had were her cell phone and her computer, and she told me how she'd go online to look something up, and that would lead her to something else, which led to something else, and before she knew it she'd have spent the whole day online reading and learning about stuff. And she was positively filled with wonderment about how many songs would fit on her phone -- more than the entire record collection she had once owned. And she chuckled at the idea that she might want to die. She found that completely ludicrous. She pointed out how incredibly technology has changed just in her lifetime so far, and said she couldn't wait to see what was coming next. "I don't want to die," she exclaimed. "I might miss something!"

So...be a little bit flexible about the number of pills, if the time comes when they tell you they simply can't keep it at nine. If you're too rigid, you might die. And then you might miss something!

But I think it is wise to insist upon figuring out the right combination of pills to keep them to a minimum.
I've seen some people who simply go doc shopping to get more pills thinking that it is the answer to whatever is wrong and they wind up making a real mess of themselves since they are not necessarily telling the new doc what they are already taking.

Oh, yeah, we get a LOT of those messes. I get called in to try to help untangle them.

Which reminds me, just because Dr. Oz says something is good doesn't mean it won't add just enough of the wrong thing to your current nearly-to-the-tipping-point medication polypharmacy to plunge you right on over the edge and onto the psychiatric consultation list.

Also, once you've been extubated and finally stop seeing monsters and remember who you are, if I tell you not to take it any more, you really ought to listen to me, even if I'm not on TV...'cause I don't CARE if it's what pays my bills, it makes me annoyed when I have to go to all the trouble of doing a whole 'nother workup on you for the same thing a week later. :upset:

You're so very right. There's really no such thing as a magic pill. Our culture has become far too dependent on them. As one very astute (albeit psychotic) patient once pointed out to me, "Nobody's ever medicated their way to success."

Wow..... I only discovered Aquaponics like four weeks ago, and in the meantime I read TClynx's thread (very instructive - very good place to start), JT's thread (beautifully build system, easy to get intimidated ..... But good read), Bullwinkell's thread (still in the process of recovering... Head-spinning views of worlds that could very well exist. Right? The only flaw I ever could detect is the origin of syrup-wafers. They're really iconicly Dutch. Right up there with windmills and wooden shoes.....).

And then some....

But this one is my favorite. It really reeds like a novel, when read start to finish. Really enjoyed it. And learned a lot.

Hope to hear from you again soon, g2n!

Good to see the error was in this thread and not mine.

I have enough errors in my system thread already :)

I'm off to search Dutch websites for syrup-wafers. Thanks

That's them!

I know this is totally destroying the novel like narrative of this thread, but really people, buy these, place one on top of your coffee as a lid for a few minutes, then consume.

Thanks! *grin*

So what is the topic?

Pancakes or medications?

I can't honestly take a thread off topic until I know what the topic is meant to be :dontknow:

As Bullwinkle often gets his thread mixed up with this one, the only thing off topic here is... I will leave that at the discretion of G2N.

lets go with stroopwafels.

I noticed the yeast didn't seem to make much of a rise on the dough?

I think that it aids in splitability.
