Been reading some info on feed. Some say you should only pony up for the certified organic food, others say get the best you can afford, others say, get the cheapest. Any feedback from the masters(or just more experienced)? Since I am still months away from any fish dinners, I don't have a reference point or any data to compare. I'm not selling and am not really concerned if I'm "organically certified". Just want quality food without having to spend more then I could by it at Whole foods for. OK, that's probably asking too much. For at least the same or not much more then I can buy. My fish and plants seem to be doing fine on the Little Strike pond food, but did note there are terrestrial parts in the feed. maybe some hormones from a slaughter house? Chemical residues from crops used for feed and filler? Trying to look at all sides while being realistic. Thoughts?

i've been using purina aquamax product for a few years,
a good feed = good growth and health of plants and fish, as long as you feed as appropriate with the correct feed - some fish like catfish and tilapia are fine eating low protein (about 35% protein) - but gamefish like trout, bass or perch need high protein fish food (about 45%) while juvenille fish need very high protein (50+%)
i found a place a couple miles from my house that orders whichever feed i need whenever i need it..
if silvercup was available close buy, i'd probably use it..

Thanks guys..I looked for the Aquamax locally and couldn't find it. Compared numbers on label and the Little Strike was the closest I can find locally. Not willing to pay for shipping for 50 lb bags of feed.

go to the purina website (aquamax) and put in your zip code.. find a local dealer, give them a call.. they usually will order whatever (and no shipping!)

Yep as Keith says.
Oh, but though Tractor supply is technically a Purina dealer, they don't special order so probably not worth bothering to call them.

There are many other Feed stores around FL that will get a bag of Aquamax put on the next truck for you. If you don't want/need a 50lb bag there may well be another aquapon around who would be willing to split a bag with you or some places that will sell 5,10, 15 lb of their feed to you if you let them know ahead of time before you visit.
