Creative1 has taken home a couple of Trout to smoke that we caught today he will let us know how he did them :headbang:

Creative1 droped half a hot smoked trout in and it went down very nice with a glass of Cab/sav.
He will tell us later how he prepared it .

Smoked some salmon (EB got me going so bought some @ $30kg :shock: ) was great, smoked some potatoes as well and they tasted like potatoes covered in smoke, not something I will try again

I was talking to a friend last night who just harvested his 50 trout, he didnt have a smoker so he did some searching and found a place locally that hires them. He said it was basically and old fridge with a element in the bottom, still all the racks and stuff inside. Sounds easy enough to build so might do some googling tonight.

I'll be borrowing a smoker of a fella at work , never tried it before so this is a timely thread revival. I've got plenty of lemon wood so thinking of giving that a go :thumbright:

Is it best to remove the gills before smoking a trout? If so what it the best method of removing them?
