Never used one. Never will. I just fail to see how a uniseal can provide a good long lasting leak proof seal.

I'm with you on this one. I don't see a uniseal lasting through 1 good Texas summer. I would rather spend a little more money, do a little more work, and have a hell of a lot more peace of mind that it isn't going to leak.

Do car tyres survive in texas or are you guys all on tank tracks?
if a car tyre will survive, a uniseal will survive.

Car tires are inflated with air pressure that holds them in place. The tires do however get weather rot and cracks in them within a year or two as do all other rubber products exposed to Texas heat.

Edit: After seeing that the Northern Austrailian's have had fair luck with them I may order a few to try out. From everything I read, most failures are due to installation error.

I got to admit that I do have 6 other uniseals doing great. I think that these for some reason are harder. It might be the IBC plastic and the way I drilled it, might be the pressure of all the rock media on top or it might be that I did not smooth out the hole as best as I could. With all that put aside. Im wondering if I can re-use one of the seals I replaced and give it another try or once they were used and stretched out are done for?

If I was to use a uniseal on a thin plastic such as an IBC wall I would reenforce the area I was installing the uniseal, otherwise I would use a bulk head fitting (screw together) with a gasket or silicon.

An IBC wall is too flexible, allowing too much sideways movement which would lead to leaks.

use it again, perhaps if it has been in place for ages it may have squashed, but maybe a heatgun can remedy that?

stretching shouldnt be a problem, the seal really comes from the fact that the pipe and container put so much pressure on the seal that it squashes it and nothing can get through, thats why its so hard to push the pipe through in the first place.
