Lately there seems to be an underlying tone of aggressiveness, with people wanting to argue about almost anything.

This is not conducive to creating a pleasant environment for people to learn about aquaponics. Most of these arguments tend to pop up in threads unrelated to aquaponics, or when people become pedantic about minor aspects of aquaponics.

In the past few days I've spoken privately to a couple of people, and now I'm going to put it out publicly so that everyone is on the same page.

People, be a little more considerate of others and park your ego at the door.

I won't allow the forum to become a place where new members feel scared to log in and comment, or where older members feel apprehensive about making reasonable posts, for fear of being attacked or having it turn into an argument. :naughty:

This is a place for learning and helping...

Looks blue to me - but I like the blues :)
I like the freedom of speech and encourage progressive debate - but I always re-read my posts before I press the submit button because its not real conversation and multiple meanings can sometimes be extracted from text.

In relation to more experience members vs newbs - I think your spot on Earthbound - just like any sort of system (and I'm thinking of a school) where the older teachers have to listen to the younger ones and all teachers have to listen and learn from the students in a reflective manner.

Are you human?: yes, I think so
Location: Aust, Vic
Agreed

If you think somebody is wrong then that could just be your interpretation.
And even if they are actually heading down the complete wrong track, it serves no benefit being condescending. They will only interpret the personal insult and not the actual good advice.

I am sure I am yet to make many completely stupid comments and embarrass myself, :blackeye: but that is half the fun. :headbang:

Yep, lets get back to having some fun and enjoying the backyard banter. Some threads are just getting so boring.
