How would you like these little babies munching on your plants? My mate in Chiang Mai Thailand is disposing on average twenty per day during the rainy season.

Dasboot:
Do you have any problems with them in large numbers up in Chaing Rai?

When you say disposing of them do you mean eating them?

That would be impressive, if you were not using a 1 year old to model them.

Standard size checks are done against a stubby. (375ml or 330ml).

There are a lot of snails that get upto 250-300mm long shells some of them in SE Asia.

Stuart:

He has a special tool which is a steel tube flattened out at one end into a small trowel. He slips that under them then launches them into a big pond at the rear of his property and they become fish fodder.

I don't think he looks too see if the fish eat the snails or the snails eat the fish, he just wants them out of his yard.

Since they have a relatively slow metabolism are you sure they are not just crawling out of the water?

ie he is throwing the same snails in the drink every morning?

When I had big trout I would crack the shells and throw them in the tank. Fish loved em.

Stuart:

I think it's the whack with his steel tool he gives them before throwing them over the fence that probably stops their ability to climb back over the fence.

So I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a snail return problem it's all one way traffic.
