Hi All re air pumps my FT is 1.3m deep and I need an air flow rate of 30 to 40lt/min should the pump that I choose have a flow rate of 80 or 120 lt/min to compensate for the depth.
What kpa should the pump be rated at so that it delivers the correct amount of air at the required dept of 1.3m,
could you suggest any specific model as I will have to bring this in from the UK or where ever I can find one and I had better spec the right pump now before its too late and waste money.

Thank's for all the help

pat

Your air stones don't need to be sitting on the bottom, you could just suspend them part way down and get more benefit from them.

I'm sure if you search the forum you'l find plenty of other post's on this subject.

Hi Stuart, as I am not turning over my FT volume every hour and am about to add trout to my system next week I am concerned that the fish may not have the ideal water conditions for optimum health.
The only place that I am able to get trout fingerlings here in Eire is from the Inland Fisheries Board. I have had to get a licence and my system was inspected this week by three local fisheries wardens so the last thing I want is to go back to them looking for more fish just because my DO levels were not correct. I fully intend commercialising this food growing method next year and need these people onside.
Charlie advises that and I Quote; "You should keep a DO level above 4 or 5mg/L to maintain fish health. This equates to approx 15-20L/min per 1000L of water assuming you are turning your water volume over approx once per hour" which I am not at this point in time.
