Saundra has a tray that she is starting some seeds in - we thought we would directly seed some leaf lettuce and some greens though and see if we could start them directly. Just an experiment.

Thanks, Gene. It only takes a minute to reach in and pull the inner pipe and clean it so I'm not concerned about that right now.

The reason for the hole at the bottom of the standpipe is so if power is lost, the bed would drain. That way the plants don't sit in unoxiginated water. Ps try to get all of your thoughts into one post before posting it, that way people can respond before you post two more posts...

I've got an awful lot to learn too but I'm working on it and using this site for information as well as a number of other sources.

No one was a nuisance, it is just better to spend a little more time forming your posts than it is to lightning post. Plus it gives time for people to respond.

Ahhhhhh, I broke down and put individual pumps on the beds but in the common FT. Since I had a 1000 and a 750 I used them leaving me that 250 to use as a transfer pump. The flow is great now and both beds are maintaining just the right water level. Cycling is complete. Testing of the water is good and I think we're ready to start planting and introducing goldfish. It was kinda the long way around the bush to get there, however.

You seem to be the closest APer to me.
Good luck with your system.

I hear there are others here in town with me but have been unable to make contact with them. Where in OK are you? Just got some plants in and some greens seeded so we're off and running.

Got a nix on the fish. The guy over at Fish Pro looked over our test numbers and suggested we let it cycle for a few more days before we introduce the fish. Also suggested we hit it with another dose of Quikstart to help the the numbers. Have an electrician coming next week to put a couple of 30 amp circuits in there to handle power needs. Gonna take a lot of veggies to recover this investment.

Wasn't expecting this, we planted some things but also seeded some greens just to see what they do. We did that Friday and we already have some little sprouts in the bed. I'm very surprised.
