The growbed is protected against birds now, and I've trimmed off all the munched leaves so it should be either fixed or I'm wrong

Well you're about to find out if it's birds or some nasties hiding in the grow bed.

Well... It seems birds it was.

No sign of any further damage since the netting was installed.

But - having logged back in and looked through the entire thread, I'm absolutely blown away. The original photos were taken only 10 days ago, and the plants are now about 3 times the size they were then! 8) I was told to expect rapid growth, but this is just ridiculous!!

Good vote mantis but if you're implying that I changed my vote and that you were the only one to get it right :naughty:

Given enough time, it seem that everyone was (will be?) right in the end.

The net stopped the bird damage in its tracks, but a couple months later new damage started to appear. Set up a beer trap and caught one huge slug which my chickens incorporated into a scrambled egg breakfast for me several days later :) Have also found a quantity of tiny little green caterpillars munching new holes, so I'll be off to Bunnies for a box of Dipel on my way home from work...

So there you go folks - Nostradamic tendencies not withstanding - everyone had a piece of the truth - eventually.

Placement of rubber snakes on my bed has stopped nearly all my bird damage. They still freak me out too.
