Okay I've gone with the current design but with the IBC growbeds 1 pallet high - allowing just enough fall.
I've gone with 2x half IBC sumps burried outside with 90mm return and 40mm pump to fishtank - both drilled through the greenhouse sleeper riser at floor depth.

A combination of these two things

Ok, so explain the details Jay. Ill have a crack at understanding the layout... Its CHIFT PIST? Pump in the sumps (joined) which deliver to the full IBC fish tank, which overflows (SLO) to the half IBC grow beds and half barrels? All grow beds drain back to sumps.

So FT is approx 800L. Sumps are a total of approx 1800L. Half barrels are approx 400L filtration and IBC grow beds are aprox 800L filtration. My guess is you have about a total water volume of 3000L and about 1200L filtration.

Am I close? If thats about right we can help decide a good pump.

Yeah thats looking good :)
On the money thanks Charlie.

The sumps - yes they are 600 because I made the growbeds 400.

About 6m of pipe from the pump to the fish tank. I was thinking bigger diameter pipe was better for some reason? (40mm)

I can add more growbeds around the outside of the greenhouse also :)
And in future I have 1m deep 1m wide 4m long vege garden beds x2 just behind the sumps
as seen here: (O how things change :)

New model below :)

Also with Laguna, look at the wattages. There are a run of different flows, all with the same wattage. Clearly, it is wise to get the most flow for your wattage.

LPH---watts---wats per litre
2,200 32 1.45
4,000 55 1.38
5,000 65 1.30
7,600 75 .99
9,000 100 1.11
10,600 125 1.18
16,500 160 .97

I divided the watts by LPH and x100.

I think that means watts per litre? Meaning lower the better?

So I think the 7,600 model is best efficiency.

I run the 9000's in my two bigger systems and they give you lots of pumping power to run other stuff like strawb towers etc.

Where did you get those numbers? In the Laguna instruction manuals it lists a 7500 pump at 100 watts.

I can see what you mean.
the 9000, 7600 and 6000 all say 100w
then jumps to 3400 @ 65w
http://www.lagunaponds.com/lagunaeng/ma ... p?link=141

I would say the watts would be less if the pump pumps less litres, as in the creative pumps one.
..But
you would expect the laguna site to be more accurate?

I'm just trying to get the lowest wattage pump for my needs.

Hey Omegacore,

Your tomatoes look very spindly - was that because of low light?
Did you use river pebbles through the whole barrels?
Did you put the inlet at the front and outlet at back for any reason?

Havent got the box for my burned out 6000L pump but I am sure it was 65W or something similar. The 9000 is very definitely 100W
