Big brew up yesterday.

40L of rogers clone, 40L of little creatures bright ale clone and 10L of a made up thing. The made up batch we did in a 10L urn for fun, we put orange peel and corriander seeds in too. Aiming for about 8%.

Drank way too much and pretty much destroyed myself.

I should have been drinking that last night. sucking on water this am, my head hurts...

Drinking 2l bottles is not a good thing, "I'll just finish it off", should have been, "I'll leave that til tomorrow".

Im hearin ya DrBee, Im nursing a nice headache too and slugging away at the water bottle as we speak. Its a common morning for me to be honest.

Kegged another brew last night and another batch in the fermenter.

Bottling tonight. British Bitter, the last batch came out pretty much Newcaste Brown. I've got six batches in the cupboard now, but no lables on any. Makes for a suprise each time I open a bottle. I know the maost recent ones are on the bottome shelf, so that stops me drinking green ones.

Ginger beer next.

Looks like they just added 25 mM sodium (didn't say which salt, though). Wonder how it affects the taste. I might take home some sodium salts from the lab to give it a try.

That would be about half a gram of sodium choride per 12 oz beer. Anyone want to give it a go?

Well the school had its annual disco last night, so it was work for me (no drinking!). Got my bottling half done between drop offs. Sampled a random box afterwards, oh yes, british bitter, dunno how old, but super smooth. Better than the stuff I had at the local overpriced micro brewery down the road on the weekend. They all seem to try and shove so much flavour into the beer, it become unplesant to drink. This is not aimed at either of the two Furguson Valley breweries. They are still very high on my recommended list.

RIP the Wild Bull Brewery - saw in the paper on Tuesday that it is closing down. It has been on the market for a while now. Such a shame. When Graeme started it up, what 5 years ago, it had the best stout I had ever consumed. I guess the romance of your own brewery can be a lot of effort in reality. Only open on weekends - how do you get time off?

Got a bunch of my own hops almost ready for the picking.

I'm a spirit man and the home made stuff when cut correctly means NO HANGOVER
I dont write myself off very often but when i do i do it good and proper and yet can still get up normal time and function normally, it so cool i just don't drink commercial drops in large quantities any more, well not very often anyway. I did go to the boxing recently and got pretty smashed on beer and paid heavily for it the next day, did nothing just watched movies on the couch and felt sorry for myself.

No hangovers this side of the world. Moderation all the time. Maybe just a bit slow off the mark. Probably should have a few glasses of water in its raw state, not modified.

Started cleaning out the garage and building shelves for the shed. Oh, didn't know I had beer in this box. Into the fridge it goes.

On went a leg of Lamb.

After a reasonable afternoon of work, was time to tools down and finish off dinner preps.

Ceshhh, off come the lid, umm, bit like a lager. Very refreshing to drink. Not too much flavour, just a nice cool lager. Wish I knew what it was and how I made it, and how old it is. Probably, a late summer, early winter brew. I really should keep a diary of this stuff.

Bottled some apple cider. Kids gave me a capper for fathers day, so capped a heap (34) of 500ml bottles. Found I have about 60 king browns that are empty, so got to do some brewing for the summer. Put down a new brew of ginger beer.

Ran out of 2013 beers, so have tried the apple cider and ginger beers brewed back in Sept.

Cider is light in flavour, dry and a bit sour. Easy drinking after some hot work.

Ginger beer - the additional ginger has added a bit of spice. Quite thick.

Summer was either one month too long, or last year i brewed two brews short of my consumption.

Busy brewing up more beer now the weather has cooled down. 2 x English Bitter to start, the will get some ales down.

I've always wanted to brew up some beer, but I never drink enough of it. I'd be going through a small home brew for a year.

However, when I do buy beer, it's always the craft beer.

For those Adelaide people, try and hunt down some Prancing pony, fire roasted Blondie ale. It's the best beer I've ever found, brewed in the Adelaide Hills!
