Hello,

Im on Kangaroo Island, work at a school growing Barramundi.

We're just getting our Aquaponics up and running again after a clean out of the hot house and reed beds. we've got 6 flood and drain tables in our hot-house, which we use the 'floating raft' or 'deep water culture' system to grow our plants. We have been using the water straight from the fish shed (about 28 degrees C), but im toying with the idea of sending it through the outside reed-beds first (8, 1x2meter ponds, finishing in a bottom sump). The water straight from the fish shed is high in nutrients, but also clogged our old planter beds/pipes and the algae love it. I wonder if the outside reed beds will strip too much nutrients from the water and make it too cold for the plants to thrive..? Any suggestions. Also im wondering about plumbing the flood and drain trays together- keeping in mind we want to keep them full of water, not flood and drain them.

Well thats our story- any advice/direction/comments or questions let me know!

Cheers- Daniel.

Hi all. :wave1: New to AP but keen. Looking at setting up a CHOP system with sump and 1000L initially and grow to 3 independent systems. I'm going to set up with a solar system and run a Geyser pump instead of 'standard' sump pump.

Does anyone run there Fish tank from a swim pool? I was thinking of setting a system at my old dears that utilised a 6500L above ground pool. Supplement her meagre pension.

I currently live in the Marion area. 8km south of CBD.
