Highly unlikely, but do you have mussels in your tank?
If so, it may be mussel babies.

Quote:
Some mussels in the Unionidae, such as Ptychobranchus fasciolaris and P. greenii,[1] release their glochidia in mucilaginous packets called conglutinates. The conglutinate has a sticky filament that allows it to adhere to the substrate so it is not washed away.

I would not throw it away like people suggest, If possible could you please place it in another continer with AP water in it, still attached to the air line and place it in this container to quarantine it, but allow it to live, if it spreads then you know its a bacteria/fungi. If not you may have something non harmful or even beneficial.

No mussels but I think i might keep it because I have not added anything to the water besides starter bacteria sooo it cant be too bad.

I dont have any snails in my system and the water that was added to the tank was uv, sediment and carbon filtered.

yeah, i will check it out under the microscope and get back. I am surprised that nobody knows what this is. Its weird cus its only growing one the airstones. I would think that the air released from the airstone would make it hard for things to settle on the stone.

I think it looks like the remains of some type of lubricant/oil that was used in the aerator build.

You wont know for sure until you taste it.
