At least a week... and with current water temps... it will take a month to get on top off any parasitic spores floating around the tank...

Should begin to "pacify" the fish fairly quickly though...

I did a PH test - wow didnt know it could get so low to be ORANGE.
I gave it 2 cups of eco rose to bring the PH UP.

Getting some shel grid to hang in a sump tomorrow..

Hi all,

I've had a couple of random silver perch deaths.. 4 in the past 3 weeks.
Water readings are all good with exception of nitrates that are in the high orange to red range.

The fish are all fairly small still, 5-8 inches and its winter.

Should I put it down to just random ? Gills looked good. No visible reason.

I also have trout in the tank, wondering if maybe the trout are taking all the food.

Have you been seeing the Perch swimming around on the surface.. with raised/flared dorsal fin.... for a day or two before death???

I'm putting it down to a couple of possibilities.. A) trout are smashing all the food and they starve... B) too cold and they are too little..

Not much other reason
