I have an Ebay vacuum sealer. I can''t say if it is any better or worse than anything else available because it's the only one I've used. It doesn't have a cutter, I use a small guillotine like the one in the link below to cut bags.

Had problem with moisture being sucked up between the sealing surface and would not seal properly. So, use some folded paper towel between the fish and the seal point then moisture gets trapped in the paper towel.

Was expensive when we bought as well, you pay for the quality. Can get cheaper bags on the web but some are not that good. Get bags with the ribs running one side. This helps with the extraction of the air.

We paid ~$60 for ours. We use 10m rolls 28cm wide - (about $24 for 2) We've been using ours for about 2 years without a problem - might be up to $200 by now. :D

Vacseal machine slices to length wanted, then seals only one end than vacs & seals other. Also has hose for several vac containers we got.

I'd want to be doing commercial provision I think before I'd pay out hundreds for the machine. The paper/tissue in the top of anything wet is the way to do it - also if it is powdery or crumbs.

Hmmm, vacuum packed fish feed? At least it would be an excuse/tax deduction... :D
