ok so im pretty new to all of this but ive got my system running and I have fingerlings but the guy who sold me the fish was actually in the process of filleting some fish and I asked him what he did with the scrap(body, guts and other stuff) and he said he composts it for worms which I guess he also sells so my question is if and when I get to that point could I use the head guts and skin dry them out and grind it up and make my own pellet food like some videos on youtube? or is this like a tilapia on tilapia crime lol

Im visualising cases of Mad Tilapia Disease.

would be easier to grow BSF with the scraps and lessen the chance of Zombie fish apocalypse.

That is the first thing I thought of as well when I read the question.

yea lmao it was a bad idea but the more I looked online the more I realized I couldn't do that...but I read on another thread that bsf diet could lead to illness for the fish...im just trying to make food with something I have around in order to make reliable safe food and not create zombie fish

BSFL alone will cause illness, but as part of a diet it is great. People fall all over themselves trying to avoid pre made aquaculture feed. While I understand the desire to be more self sufficient, you never get something for nothing. The best you can do is close the nutrient cycle as best you can, and BSFL is one way to do that. You still need external inputs if you expect to eat anything from your system, and that is aquaculture feed for those of us that do not have enough farm land to grow other feed and be able to use humanure compost.
