The sun was out today and thought it would be nice to take a few pics. Not much different to my last lot but its good getting some practice with the new cam.

What I am happy about is Ive managed to keep a rhubarb plant alive, the peas seem to be growing in the raft ok and the pineapple is lasting the winter. So theres a few things that Ive doubted with my AP recently that have proved me wrong. Kinda cool anyway.

Ummm what else is going on.., well, the wicking bed is doing ok, it doesnt get much sunlight during winter due to the lower span the sun does but still getting some growth there on the cabbage and broccoli. Theres a monster beetroot that has been in there for about a year now I think, Im sure its way past its day but Ive left it in there to see what happens.

Still house hunting for the move at the end of the year and have a couple that are looking ok so we will see what happens there. We got a dog last weekend, its a pugalier which is cute... kinda looks like a ewok lol.

Also heading to Perth mid July if anyone wants to catch up for a AP chat fest. Ill be popping into the BYAP shop during the day on saturday the 20th, so good time to head down and pick up those bits and pieces you want and Im very excited to meet anyone that would like to meet me, chew my ear off or trip me over etc
;)

Piccies..

Fantastic looking growth Charlie, Great work.
I like the sturdy design of your DW trough.

I'm trying to decide between adding two more IBC GB'S to my 2nd system or a DW trough, ive got an area of about 2.7m X 1.2 M to use. Still not sure which way to go.

You need to get yourself a healthy juicer from http://www.juicersaustralia.com.au/lexe ... icer.shtml
I got one a few weeks back and it squeezes juice out of any thing LOL
Done wheatgrass, silver beet, carrots, apples and beetroot. You don't get much juice but I add it to a bottle of bought organic apple juice.
Wheatgrass is well grassy and beetroot is earthy
Meant to be wonderful for you, but don't know if it will reverse decades of bodily abuse from fags (given up 18yrs ago) and more decades of alcohol abuse, ongoing
Anyhoo, the juicer is a little winner :headbang:

Im enjoying the DWC Blindfreddie, I think if you have done the GB's for a bit its nice to try something new and expand your knowledge. It adds a sense of diversity and interest outside the norm for me. If I could offer any advice it would to be to go with the standard poly sheeting or dow board cause the corflute isnt too good, it works but its got more down sides than good. Just my experience so far.

@mantis - Ive been thinking about a juicer for a while now actually, its one of those things Ive been getting around to but havnt yet. Youve just re-sparked my interest. Like you, I dont think I could turn back the years on the durries or alcohol but it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy all the same lol. Hmmm, put it on the shopping list me thinks. Cheers.

Thanks Charlie, through work I have access to sheets of high density polystyrene 2400 x 1200mm and from 15mm to 50mm thick. I was thinking of using something like that. I can even get sheets that are foil laminated to reflect heat / light, I'm not sure how they would go but it might be worth a shot.

I pulled the reflective layer off my sheet of polystyrene. There are probably many things wrong with my raft system as I can't get much to grow in it, but I think the reflective layer was cooking the veggies.

Beautiful growth Charlie. Couldn't even spot any lurking hands or feet.

No pics of the pugalier? What are you calling him/her? Had to Google Image pugalier. Never heard of it before. Looks a bit like a cross between a pug and a beagle?

Regards, Martin.

The weather here in the outback always keeps you guessing. Nice warm day today and then as soon as the sun went down a crazy thunderstorm and hail came raining in.

Lovely puppy Charlie. Very cute.

I won't introduce Ollie to our Bella as she might swallow him accidentally if she has the hiccups. :D

(Oh and nice veggies too buddy.)

Nice hail Charlie - we had some like that a couple of years back, my frangipanis looked like they had been in the middle of a shoot out!

When I fed the trout this arvo I sat back and watched the tank from a distance whilst sucking back a cold home brew and I was amazed to see the perch coming up to take a few pellets. Water temp 9deg. Im guessing the trout are inspiring them to have a nibble. You learn something everyday in the AP world.
