So how do you "clean" a bottom drain in an IBC? or similar type tank. Without going head first down into it? Or having to drain the tank? If you figure out how to easily do that (which drains need regular maintenance) then go for it.

Hahaha...I'm guilty of tank diving...and no I'm not proud of the fact that I've done it (Don't drink then AP, both must be done simultaneously) :drunken: . I really want to try the flexible SLO hose and then put a brush attachment from a ShopVac on the end and gently sweep and suck some of the nasties away.

I have made 2 FT's, 1 i will run immediately and the second will be ready for spring.
3 Grow beds and a Sump.
2x stands which will hold 2 GB's each.
I was planning on running the sumps to one side for easy access as i will run some Red Claw in them, but i am tempted to run a sump under each stand, ie 1 sump per 2 GB as it will allow a few more Red Claw, it means i wont be pushing the boundaries with sump size and save me some extra plumbing. It will just mean access to them will be a little tight. The sumps will however be buried at least 1ft into the ground or 2ft if i can dig out enough rock.

Pick up the dingo tomorrow arvo to start prepping the site.

very cool so far!...I like the stands for the GB's. Were they something you made or repurposed?

Hi RRLAG, the steel is recycled, something i have been hoarding for some years now, glad it came of some use, and i still have enough to do the other 2.
The stands are purpose made, i intend to fit a climbing trellis down the middle of each and a small bench on each end.

Ok so i hired a Dingo this weekend to prep the AP site. Damn sore now but at least i am 1 step closer.
I have decided to run with 2 sumps per system and so due to the layout i have ordered to additional 4 totes to pick up this week which means stage to planned for Spring is now happening pretty much as soon as i get system 1 up and running.
My sumps will be in the ground under the stands hence the holes in the ground, the FT's will be up on the bank just in front.
Dirt garden out the back, a duck weed pond out of a bath tub, Wicking bed and some grow towers at the left rear.
Started painting the FT's this arvo so all beginning to come together, cant wait.

Some more painting and starting shifting the frames in to get an idea of how it will come together.
Stage 2 totes ordered and ready for pick up.

Yeah well they loose interest pretty quickly when the going gets tuff, but the little tacker stayed with me on the Dingo for a whopping 3.5 hours, i couldn't get rid of him lol and i tell you my back was bloody sore from my posture on the machine for those 3.5 hours while he was standing in front of me. But he had a ball.

Was just thinking...... I am plumbing 2 sumps together using 90mm uni seals to equalise them as running only 1 pump, i plan to leave water in the bottom for the yabbies and was just thinking, if i have a problem with either sump, i have to dismantle the tables and GB's if i need to remove the sumps. Can i expect any issues with the sumps and or uni-seals???
I wouldn't imagine so... Is there any insurance i should put in place before i back fill the sumps and fill the GB's??

I wouldn't go backfilling anything till you have added water and make sure there are no leaks.

I second that...but uniseals don't usually leak if you drilled the correct hole size.

I also wouldn't backfill a sump without having water in it to help hold it in place. You may want to be careful about filling in against an IBC since dirt can actually collapse in the bottle of an IBC if you don't add any other reinforcement on the outside of the cage.
