A fried of mine Has these two unused septic tanks along with about 7 cast iron (enamel coated) tubs along with a couple sinks. I only have a picture of the tanks, I may get pics of the tubs soon. The tanks are 1200 gal. (little over 4542 liters). Anybody ever use tanks like these? I know it's a pretty massive tank, but maybe they could be useful with a couple modifications.

Wow, nice colour yellow. My thought would be in consideration of access to the fish tank and harvesting the fish, unless you cut a larger opening, but be careful that you do not compromise the integrity of the structure. Not likely to be food grade, whether that bothers you :dontknow: Make sure that the cast iron bathtubs do not have any chips as this has been known to cause the fish problems.
Very interesting and look forward to seeing it all come together if you proceed Polk Concepts.

The yellow one on the left may not be, but the white one on the right is for potable water. I'm thinking maybe use the white one, maybe cutting it up in half into a trough, the whole thing could be dodgy though. It may be worth it to sell them (they are about 900($) bucks new for the yellow one, I'm not sure for the white, and these are unused. could get 500 or 600) and just putting that money towards a more practical IBC system. Or something with some fixed wall bulk containers, there's a tropical fish farm in utah that uses them for the bulk of their tanks.

How were your results with using a septic tank?
